Gaining its independence from the UK in 1965, Gambia (strictly ‘The Gambia’) is located on the west coast of Africa, surrounded by Senegal in the north, east and south and bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the west.

Every year, thousands of international visitors travel to The Gambia, mostly because of its idyllic beaches along the Atlantic Ocean, consistent sunshine and wildlife, located within its six national parks. There are also more than 550 species of birds in The Gambia, making it an ornithologists' paradise.

Although we do not currently offer a tourism product here, The Gambia certainly merits consideration as a safe and interesting destination to visit, especially as its government is making strenuous efforts to attract international tourism.
