Zambia

One of the reasons we think Zambia is the best safari location in Africa is the wide range of destinations within the country for the discerning safari-goer.

From the unparalleled game-viewing of the South Luangwa, to the majestic backdrop of the mighty Zambezi River, and of course not forgetting one of the seven wonders of the natural world, the majestic Victoria Falls.

Zambia is probably our favourite safari destination in Africa, offering a choice of excellent, largely quiet and unspoilt National Parks that teem with huge numbers of diverse species.

“Zambia is our favourite safari destination, with fabulous game, scenery and guiding.”

Stuart Hunter, AfricaAway

In Zambia you can combine your top-notch safari experience in parks such as South Luangwa and the Lower Zambezi, with a trip to the magnificent Victoria Falls, and access to the fantastic beaches of Zanzibar, Mauritius or Mozambique is easy and straightforward.

Zambia offers a wide selection of high quality lodges to suit all budgets, all offering a good selection of activities and the best guiding in the continent.  As well as game drives in open-sided vehicles, visitors to Zambia can take the opportunity to go for walking safaris, night drives (in all Parks), canoeing, fishing, river cruises, visits to local schools and villages, and many other activities.

Zambia Safari Destinations

Most of our Zambia itineraries will include one, two or perhaps all three destinations shown here, namely the Lower Zambezi and South Luangwa National Parks, together with Victoria Falls.  Click on the panels to go to our Zambia-specific website and more information.

Lower Zambezi National Park

As well as great game drives, the Lower Zambezi offers exciting alternative ways to view the wildlife - from boat or canoe - and some splendid lodges to stay in.

South Luangwa National Park

South Luangwa is the premier game-viewing spot in Zambia, with a large area of unspoilt bush and excellent sightings available throughout the year.

Victoria Falls and Livingstone

The Victoria Falls do not need much introduction - they are a fabulous sight from early in the year right through until late August, and a must-see for any traveller visiting Zambia.

Our Zambia Safaris

There are a wide variety of activities to choose from in Zambia, but as well as game drives we think visitors to Zambia should consider including some activities that Zambia does better than anywhere else in Africa.  Click on the panels below to go to ZambiaAway.com and more information.

Walking Safaris in Zambia

Zambia is particularly renowned for its excellent walking safaris, being the home of the legendary walking safari pioneer Norman Carr.

Night Drive Safaris in Zambia

A great feature of a safari in Zambia is the ability to take night drives to get sightings of nocturnal wildlife.

Fishing Safaris in Zambia

If you are a keen fisherman, we can organise dedicated tours concentrating on fly fishing on the Zambezi or Kafue rivers - not to be missed.
