Details

Ethiopia is situated in North Eastern Africa bordering Sudan to the north and north west, Eritrea to the north and north east, Djibouti to the east, Somalia to the east and south east, while to the south lies Kenya. Unique among African countries, the ancient Ethiopian monarchy maintained its freedom from colonial rule  until 1974 when Emperor Haile Selassie was deposed.

Ethiopia’s most distinctive feature is the northern part of the Great Rift Valley, which runs through the entire length of the country. Ethiopia is home not only to nearly a hundred different tribes, but also to an astonishing array of animal and bird life, much of it unique to this beautiful country.

Although tourism has recovered somewhat since its decline in the 1970s and 1980s, growth has been constrained by the lack of infrastructure, and by the effects of drought and political instability. However people do travel to Ethiopia, its major attractions including numerous national parks, historic cities and sites, and the fast-growing eco tourism industry. However Ethiopia is not a country in which we ourselves currently offer a tourism product.
