The
Bushbaby is rarely seen since it is nocturnal and spends most of the
day asleep in a hollow tree. Its
bright red eyes are sometimes reflected
from the spotlight during a night drive.
They are a very agile species, being able to leap among the branches, but they appear awkward when it occasionally descends to the ground and hops from the base of one tree to another in frog-like progression. Bushbabies feed on insects and fruit.
The name ‘Bushbaby’ is derived from the fact it can give off a striking loud wailing scream.
