Zambia - South Luangwa National Park - Luangwa River Lodge
Luangwa River Lodge
Luangwa River Lodge is owned and run Barry and Tara Van der Maas. The unique construction of the lodges - described as 'Modern African Bush Chic' - was documented in the 2001 Channel 4 programme ‘No Going Back’.
Located on the banks of the Luangwa River, the lodge overlooks the Wafwa Oxbow Lagoon. This provides guests with game sightings directly from the lodge.
Tara's design and layout of the lodge is simply stunning and is unlike anywhere else in the South Luangwa Valley. Using local materials and craftsmen, the lodge's overall theme is a fusion of traditional Zambian motifs mixed with North African (Moorish) design.
Each chalet's spacious design is complimented by beautiful furnishings and wonderful little touches, that make a stay here truly memorable.
The Luangwa River Lodge offers a very relaxed atmosphere and prides itself on not conforming to the standard safari routine; guests are able to decide their own activities and timetable.
High season rate: £278 per person per night.
